Woman Loses Rs 10.15 Lakhs In Bitcoin Scam

A woman lost ₹10.15 lakh to online frauds while looking for work-from-home opportunities.

She found the opportunity through a Facebook advertisement and was contacted by phone.

She was asked to complete tasks on a Telegram group and invest in Bitcoin to earn money.

The woman completed tasks and invested money as instructed and was earning money, which was being deposited in her virtual account.

At one point, she was asked to deposit ₹8 lakh to complete one more task and transfer the money to her bank account.

She realized she was being duped, but by then had already lost ₹10.15 lakh to the fraudsters.

On January 31, she filed a police complaint and the Gamdevi police have registered an FIR.

The police are in the process of obtaining details of the fraud and fraudulent transactions from service providers and banks.

The fraudsters used Facebook and Telegram to lure the victim into the scam.

This case highlights the need for caution when responding to work-from-home job advertisements and investing in cryptocurrencies.
